A little girl stood there, no older than seven. Her oversized yellow T-shirt hung almost to her knees. Dust covered her sneakers. Her tangled hair framed a frightened face, and her eyes never stopped darting toward a young man sitting alone at the counter.<\/p>\n
The biker set down his fork.<\/p>\n
Something about the fear in her eyes made his stomach tighten.<\/p>\n
\u201cHey, sweetheart. What\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n
The girl stepped closer.<\/p>\n
Her lips trembled.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I ever got lost\u2026 and I saw that wolf\u2026 I should run to you.\u201d<\/p>\n
For the first time in years\u2026<\/p>\n
The biker felt his heart stop.<\/p>\n
His voice became barely audible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat\u2019s your mother\u2019s name?\u201d<\/p>\n
The girl swallowed hard.<\/p>\n
Then she whispered a single word.<\/p>\n
\u201cRose.\u201d<\/p>\n
The biker\u2019s face drained of color.<\/p>\n
Rose.<\/p>\n
The woman who had vanished eight years ago.<\/p>\n
The woman everyone believed was dead.<\/p>\n
Slowly, he lifted his eyes toward the young man.<\/p>\n
The smile was gone now.<\/p>\n
The stranger\u2019s hand was slipping inside his jacket.<\/p>\n
And that was when the biker recognized him.<\/p>\n
